micro.sp vs fsk

Advanced Sensors for Truck Tire

Radio transmission within truck tires

TPMS for Heavy Duty Vehicle

Micro.sp® Technology is a Radio Frequency Standard suitable for the creation of small, efficient and low cost wireless sensors capable of transmitting measurements and alarms for tens of years powered by a small lithium battery.   The Micro.sp® Transmitter uses RF pulse transmission with pulse position modulation (PPM).   The pulses have a high peak power (up to 100mW), but are very short (two microseconds) and therefore the average energy is extremely low and the radiated emission spectrum remains, by a wide margin, within the limits of the FCC and ETSI regulations.

FSK low RF power will become a big problem inside a truck tire which has much greater radio wave attenuation than a car tire.

The Micro.sp® Technology advantages

HIGH TRANSMISSION POWER – A peak RF pulse power of up to 100 mW ensures optimal transmission levels, even from within a truck tire.

SINGLE RECEIVER – This high RF peak power facilitates the installation of a single receiver for the truck and another for the trailer. Using a single receiver per vehicle simplifies and reduces the cost of installing TPMS ECUs onboard.

NEW, SPECIFIC RF STANDARD TAILORED FOR TRUCKS – Micro.sp® offers an “RF Standard” and a “Communication Protocol” designed to address all issues related to the installation of TPMS sensors, simplifying their programming and maintenance.

MORE SENSORS – Micro.sp® envisions incorporating additional sensors and alarms into the onboard wireless network to expand “Fleet Management” capabilities across the entire “Internet of Transport” (IoT).

Micro.sp® Technology stands out as the optimal solution not only for aftermarket but also for the OEMs industry.

On heavy vehicles other and more stringent performances are required

TPMS from passenger cars to truck and trailers

On vehicles of the M1 category, i.e. cars and van, the TPMS has been hystorically developed with an FSK or ASK transmission system at the frequency of 433.92 MHz and with an RF communication protocol adapted to the needs of the various OEM car manufacturers. This standard is tailored to the specific needs of the M1 vehicles and is limited to this application only. Practically it is not really a “Standard” and It also suffers from the low radiated power of the transmitter allowed by FCC regulations.

Micro.sp® is the best choice for the transition of the TPMS from the traditional FSK standard used on Light-Duty Vehicles (LDV) to the Heavy Duty Vehicle (HDV) Trucks and Trailers industry.
